The Ocean and it’s ecosystems thrive on Diversity
AnD so do spaces for Ocean ActioN
Ocean Justice Collective is a youth-led initiative of ocean enthusiasts, advocates and professionals from ALL backgrounds building intersectional and fairer spaces for ocean action.
Why does ocean justice matter?
The ocean is connected to many through culture, livelihoods, survival and heritage. Yet in places where ocean innovation is strong, access and representation, especially for those most impacted, is often overlooked. Resulting in many voices still missing in ocean decision-making spaces.
Making the connection between ocean protection and social justice is critical to dismantle the systems that no longer work for either ocean or human resiliency.
Ocean Justice means recognizing these gaps and creating space to do things differently.
This is A space
to rethink
ocean action
We bring together ocean advocates, scientists, creatives and community members to explore how environmental issues connect with social realities and how we can act on them together.
Ocean Justice Collective is where ocean conservation and social justice meet!

Exploring the
Ocean-Climate Nexus through a Justice Lens
The ocean is our strongest climate ally, absorbing over 90% of excess heat and around
25% of CO₂ emissions; yet it remains largely absent from climate justice mobilisation. We directly want to address that gap by bringing ocean perspectives into climate spaces through an intersectional and a community-driven lens.
This September we will be present at the National Klimaatmars in Amsterdam and will host an ocean justice educational workshop at LCOY Netherlands 2026 (Local Conference of Youth).
